Escape, Relax, Unwind & Restore

Welcome to the Stay at Mind Pebble Page.

The Mind Pebble Retreat and B & B is set amidst the wide-open skies of Romney Marsh on the Kent-East Sussex border – just a short drive from the sea and a 15-minute drive from both Rye in East Sussex and Ashford in Kent with its high-speed train connection from London.

Set in ¾ acre of healing eco-friendly gardens we are in a semi-rural location adjacent to fields and next door to the magnificent medieval parish church – but with good access to both the motorway and within an easy drve to local train stations.

Whether you are planning to come on Retreat or as a tourist to relax and explore the area, we hope your stay will give you space to breathe and reconnect with what truly matters to you. If you have any special requirements let us know. This is your special time, and we aim to make your stay as comfortable and rewarding as it can be.

We follow an ethos of sustainability both inside and outside the house, gardening organically, using almost entirely natural cleaning products inside the house and recycling where possible with a “minimal” landfill policy.

The Mind Pebble Retreat and B & B is set in a private home and garden but with up-to-date fire and other health and safety standards according to latest government regulations.

If you have any questions that are not covered below don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Testimonials

"We really enjoyed our stay at Celia’s home. It felt like a quiet retreat from the world, with incredible garden space, cosy conservatory and comfortable rooms. Celia was the perfect mix of welcoming and hands-off, making us feel right at home and offering great recommendations of local spots. She has thought of every need you might have, and we felt very well looked after! There was a secure overnight space for our bikes and space for car parking too. We felt so rested and peaceful during our stay. Thank you Celia! "

Tuuli
"Staying at Mind Pebble was a lovely oasis of calm. The garden in particular is a beautiful, grounding, and wholesome place (and it was very therapeutic meeting the chickens!). The living space was well set up with its own kettle and tea and coffee facilities in the bedroom. Everything was clean and well kept. Celia was very welcoming and helpful and took a real interest in where I was at in my life and paid keen attention to what would be most beneficial to me during my stay there. Celia was very flexible with her approach and wanted to ensure I had the right balance of stimulation and contemplation as well as action and structure. We also had a drive round the local area which was lovely and had an interesting history. I'd definitely recommend the Mind Pebble Retreat. Thanks, Celia."

BJ
"We received a very warm welcome. The location was perfect. Beds very comfortable and excellent value."

Aurele
"Just had a lovely stay at Celia’s house in Ivychurch. The accommodation was exactly as described, very clean and homely. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was very luxurious with a bath and shower and plenty of hot water. What really made the stay such a pleasure was how welcoming and kind Celia was. It was lovely to chat to her about her interesting profession and also her beautiful garden. She also went out of her way to make myself and my grandson feel at home. Can’t fault this accommodation in any way and very much look forward to returning again soon.."

Martin
"A beautiful place to stay! A fantastic hostess, an incredibly beautiful garden, a well-prepared breakfast, very neat rooms with wonderful beds. Highly recommended!"

Laura
"We had such a lovely stay with Celia! Besides the beautiful room full of charm and the wonderful view over the large garden, she really took great care of us. We spontaneously visited the church next to the house with her, and Celia also helped us plan the next part of our journey to Wales. We couldn’t have wished for a warmer welcome to the UK and are already looking forward to coming back!"

Therapies

Seeking precious time alone without the demands of the outside world or your family you can switch off your phone and place it in our safe keeping. If you need to provide a contact number for family in case of emergency or to put your mind at east you can give them the Mind Pebble telephone number to contact instead – leaving you free to step away from your screen and get true headspace

Meditation is a supportive tool I may use within the therapeutic work to help you create space, calm the mind, and make it easier to notice thoughts and emotional patterns without becoming overwhelmed by them.

It can help you step out of automatic thinking and become more aware of what is happening internally in the present moment. From this place of awareness, it is often easier to understand long-standing patterns, emotional responses, and inherited emotional mindsets.

I may also guide you through simple meditation practices to help regulate your nervous system, reduce anxiety, and develop a greater sense of steadiness and self-compassion. These practices are always adapted to you and your needs, and are not used in isolation, but as part of a wider therapeutic process.

Reframing Roots is a therapeutic approach that combines my experience as both a therapist and a professional genealogist. It is based on the idea that our lives are influenced not only by our own experiences, but also by the family stories, beliefs, relationships, and circumstances that shaped previous generations.

The approach works best for people who already have some knowledge of their family tree or have undertaken family history research, as this provides material we can explore together through a therapeutic lens.

Many people find that this work helps them recognise an inherited emotional mindset and understand how family patterns, beliefs, and even emotional trauma may have been passed down or carried within the family system. This can bring greater self-awareness and self-compassion, and can help release long-held negative beliefs about yourself, soften difficult feelings towards family members, and offer new perspectives on relationships and experiences.

Even in my general therapy work, I may where appropriate draw on an understanding of family history and generational influences to help clients gain deeper insight into their thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behaviour.
